High Level Architecture

High Level Architecture

  • Multi-User Mode - when running in Multi-User Mode there can be any number of users simultaneously accessing the Project file. The Project file should reside on a fast network drive located in the local LAN.

  • Read-Write Interface of the product (per PC installation) – the Full Read-Write version of the Requirements Management Database is installed on each client PC and is suitable for "producers" of requirements such as Product Managers. The one-off price provides you with a single node-locked license for the life of each PC.

  • Read-Only Interface of the product – the product automatically reverts to Read-Only mode after the evaluation period expires. The Read-Only version offers the user full filtering and reporting functionality and is suitable for "consumers" of requirements such as Engineering Managers and Project Managers.

  • Limited Read-Write Interface of the product – for heavy consumers of requirements a special Limited Read-Write Interface exists. Most of the interface runs in Read-Only mode, however the Issues and the Discussion Threads modules both offer special Read-Write access - thereby allowing the heavy consumers to add/edit the Issues and Discussion Threads associated with each Requirement.

  • Web Interface version of the product – a simplified Web Interface to the Project File is provided. This interface is suitable for a company’s Intranet and targets consumers of requirement such as Development Engineers, Account Managers, and Field Engineers. Like the Limited Read-Write Interface, most of the Web Interface runs in Read-Only mode except for the Issues and the Discussion Threads modules that both offer special Read-Write access.

  • Microsoft Project Synchronization – the Microsoft Project Synchronization Wizard allows a Project Manager to work off the same Project File and assess the resource/schedule impact of different scenarios.

  • Custom Process Module – a special plug-in connected to the same Project File and pre-configured to conform to a custom process. The Blackblot Procedural Requirements Management (PRM) process has been included as a Custom Process Module within the installation.

  • Open Data Structure – the Project File offers an open data structure to give the user tremendous flexibility in configuring the Requirements Management Database. The user can:
    • import data into every requirement attribute within the Project File
    • add new tables and fields
    • create new forms and reports
    • develop new web-pages
    • integrate into an existing enterprise database (such as Oracle)
    • link to other project management tools

  • Setup costs – the setup of the application interface in a LAN environment is typically so simple that no additional setup fee is usually needed: simply place the Project Files on a very fast network drive and select [File][Open] from each application interface to access the project data. The setup cost for Internet environments and for the Web Interface version of the product will vary.

  • Initial 14-day product evaluation – download the Requirements Management Database directly from our Download Support Site Web and immediately enjoy a free 14-day product evaluation.

  • A second 14-day product evaluation – we will extend your product evaluation upon request for a total of 28-days.
