What's New in the Requirements Management Database

  • Microsoft Project Synchronization Wizard NEW
    • The Microsoft Project Synchronization Wizard allows you to synchronize the Requirements Management Database with one or more Microsoft Projects. Open the Project File (*.mdb) with Microsoft Project to add Schedules, Links, Resources, Assignments, Baselines, etc. Copy these Attributes from one Microsoft Project to another for scenario planning.

  • Stakeholders Email Wizard NEW
    • The Stakeholders Email Wizard allows you to send an Email to all of the Stakeholders that have been linked to Requirements listed in the Summary Window. You can attach a table, report, or an external file.

  • Blackblot Custom Process Module NEW
    • A Custom Process Module is a useful way for you to completely customize the way you work with your requirements and conform with your process. The Blackblot Procedural Requirements Management (PRM) process is already provided as a Custom Process Module plugin in your installation directory.

  • Alternative simplified Web Interface NEW
    • The Web Interface provides "consumers" of product and project requirements, such as Development Engineers and Account Managers, with a simplified way to access just the information they need through the company’s Intranet.

  • Project Upgrade Utility NEW
    • Upgrade Project Files from previous versions of the Requirements Management Database so that they are compatible with all the latest features of the current version.

  • Import Wizard
    • This Wizard allows the user to import a set of requirements from a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet in an easy, step-by-step manner. Requirements can also be easily exported to Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.

  • Open Data Structure
    • The Open Data Structure provides direct access to the data for advanced editing and importation. It also allows customization of the underlying project files by adding new data tables and fields, creating new forms and reports, integrating into an existing enterprise database (such as Oracle), and linking to other project management tools.

  • Application Interface
    • The Application Interface is designed for "producers" of product and project requirements, such as Product Managers, Engagement Managers, and Project Managers. It offers access to the entire requirements management workflow – from gathering customer input, to managing the product roadmap, to generating Market Requirement Documents (MRDs) and Product Requirement Documents (PRDs).

  • Customer Insight Repository
    • Customer input is captured directly within the Requirements Management Database repository. Discussion Threads permanently store all customer feedback, along with input from other Stakeholders. Customer problems are identified with Use Case scenarios, along with the associated End-User Persona.

  • Requirement Attributes
    • Project Requirements form the heart of the Requirements Management Database. But the one-to-many database also tracks a plethora of additional requirement Attribute Details. These collaboration attributes allow you to:
      • prioritize requirements
      • schedule requirements by roadmap milestones
      • group requirements by function and organization
      • create lists of sub-requirements
      • manage the issues raised by each requirement
      • identify follow-up action for each stakeholder
      • create and oversee test case compliance
      • tag requirements for review or report

  • Filtering Requirements
    • Filtering allow you to narrow down the thousands of customer requests to focus in on just the requirements that are of immediate interest. Included is a Simple Filter, an Advanced Filter, and a Combination Filter.

  • Reporting
    • Over 30 different types of reports are offered – including summary reports, detail reports, attribute reports, and exportable reports. Each report is configurable based upon a what-you-see-is-what-you-get (WYSIWYG) design.

  • Historic Tracking
    • Automatic historic tracking of requirement changes, snap-shots, and statistics provides an easy way to generate revision change-reports.

  • Minor Updates NEW
    • Priority and Status can now be assigned to Sub Requirements (version 2.3.014)
    • A Crosstab report can be generated for Features x Milestones (version 2.3.014)
    • Text-based filtering can now be conducted on Sub Requirements as well as Requirements (version 2.3.014)
